Has anything happened since I’ve been gone?
I’ve been making pies today. I find it’s more difficult now that someone changed the recipe for the frozen pie dough that for the past 6 years I usually get from Trader Joe’s.
It seems in the interest of making more profit, the people who made the pie dough have been making little adjustments here and there to try to look like they are a growing business.
Ragged top leaves apples exposed
The first I noticed was when they changed from waxed paper to some sort of plastic paper that slides around on the counter when rolling it out to incorporate the broken sections into one large dough circle. This was annoying but not a deal-breaker.
The deal breaker is the last two packages that I purchased. The stuff called pie dough does not behave like the original Trader Joe’s frozen pie dough. It defrosts much faster, doesn’t roll out smoothly, has a gooey consistency and sticks to the “not really waxed paper”.
Normally, I can roll out one of the 2 rounds of dough and make a top from the trimmings. Like this pie I made before the introduction of the useless, sticky, new pie dough.

In other news;
I have been playing a lot more music lately. That’s a good thing. It is fun playing for so many different people.
Steve Canali and Phil at Blues Society Jam
I have expanded my performing to include twice a month at Connected Living Senior Day Care and now 2 Wednesdays a month at the Senior Nutrition Center. This is in addition to every Monday, here at the Treehouse and the 1st and 3rd Sunday at the Blues Society Sunday Jam.
So that’s 10 times a month I am playing for free.
I prefer that.
I would rather not be thinking about money when I’m performing. (Been there, done that)
Quick Political Observation Segment;
The racist fool in the oval office has made Sharpies un-cool!
Thank God, the Sharpies that I use for artwork and cartooning don’t have that child/man’s name on them.
Government agencies are being dismantled and abused by appointing incompetent Trump toadies to run official Federal organizations, but putting Moscow Mitch’s, wife’s secretary in charge of NOAA is clearly part of the right wing war on scientific facts.
If we let that bunch of squatters stay in the White House any longer, they won’t leave when we vote them out.
And now, The Weather;
It was cool last night. I think the temperature got down to about 67 degrees. I kept a blanket handy just in case the top sheet wasn’t enough.
Thank you for reading my little journal entry.
