Music can open hearts, doors and much, much more. For me it has opened my eyes and ears as well as mind and spirit, among other things.

Even though, for me, the strongest way in which music affects me is singing and playing it, many people (animals too) get their musical experiences through listening.
Magical, heartfelt recordings and performances by talented musicians can have a strong emotional affect on me in addition to movin’ to the groovin’ feeling it.

Music soothes the savage breast.
I used that phrase in an article I wrote for a small town newspaper. The editor changed breast to beast. (Not a fan of Shakespeare I suppose) I was referring to the way that well written, well played music can cause a rich bloom of feeling in ones chest, in ones heart, not in ones pet lion.
